Pale Violet

When I was a kid I always thought modesty meant wearing a long denim skirt and a turtle neck. As I grew older I learned what modesty is really about. Modesty is not just about clothing yourself in a respectable way, but it pertains to our behavior and attitude.  Ultimately our worth is not defined by our outward adornment. So while you’re getting dressed today, remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your outward appearance does not define you and what matters most is the condition of your heart. In Christ you are free to live outside of the world’s definition of beauty. You are beautiful because God made you.

Blazer and Bell Bottoms

Recently I watched When Harry Met Sally and was super inspired by all of Meg Ryan’s outfits and so I threw on this 1980s blazer. The rest of the outfit mostly consists of Free People. This fall try and mix up your look, straying from wearing a sweater and infinity scarf everyday. Also, the shoes are from a wonderful brand called Nisolo. All of their products are ethically made in a sustainable direction. I highly recommend checking them out!

I hope you have a lovely Autumn!

Classic White Tee and Jeans

A friend of mine and I found this hidden gem called Farm Basket. Not only did the place sell fresh produce and plants, but inside they had a clothing boutique and a cafe. The apple cider was delicious as was the grilled cheese with bacon and apple slices. The weather was perfect and it got me excited for fall! I wore a classic white shirt with a scoop neck along with cropped wide leg jeans and my favorite vans. I’m a denim girl and love that stores are offering creative alternatives to skinny jeans.

When you have no idea what to wear, go for a classic combination that will also look chic and put together.

Monochromatic

“Playing dress-up begins at age five and never truly ends.”-Kate Spade

To fancy things up a bit I went for a monochromatic look. While I chose white, any monochromatic outfit you wear will look chic and cool.

This look consists of a white shirt with flared sleeves, a white midi skirt, and white boots. The entire outfit is from Zara, except for the plaid coat and purse. This purse is definitely a staple in my closet as well as the red lipstick.

The outfit may not keep you very warm, but you’ll still look good. Or you could be practical and wear pants like I should have.

Here’s to the weekend!

Sweater Weather in Brooklyn

When winter comes along, it’s easy to stick to sweaters and jeans all season long. However, if you’re like me and get bored with wearing just a sweater, here’s a way in which I try to change up my winter uniform.

Thrifting has become a new love of mine and the thrift stores in Brooklyn are amazing! Awhile ago I found this women’s blazer and fell in love with it! I’m a sucker for menswear on women and so I paired this blazer with my favorite sweater from Olive Clothing.

I also added a red lip, my favorite mom jeans, and everyday shoes. The converse make the outfit more casual and help out with walking throughout the city. Practical shoes that won’t make your feet sore are a must. I learned the hard way when I first moved here. Let’s just say, ALOT of blisters.

Lastly, I accessorized my outfit with a Kate Spade watch and Coach purse, which I also found at a thrift store! I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, but I do love watches. They’re simple and timeless! Except not, because they tell time and stuff…haha.

Thrifted Overalls

As you may or may not know, I am obsessed with denim. So when I found these overalls at Broad Ripple Vintage, I was in love! My 11 year old sister looked disgusted when I first showed her the overalls and called them “mom jeans.”

The front part is a skirt and the back part has shorts. I paired them with a grey tank top, a bralette, choker, and my old fake keds. It’s fun to not always be on trend but then again chokers and denim are on trend. Oh well. Explore different options other than your normal pair of skinny jeans when shopping for denim. Get creative and always be yourself.

Summer Midi Dress

Over the summer, midi dresses have started to come back into style. I was so excited when I saw that stores were carrying them and that they looked good! This particular dress that I am wearing is from Urban Outfitters. I have a love/hate relationship with that store. Their dresses are usually way too short for me and so when I saw their midi dresses, I bought a couple.

This dress actually functions as a romper as well. The skirt is see through but there are white shorts underneath. I do get nervous about spilling something on this dress because it is white and I spill things…alot.

I also wore a sun hat from Free People. I’m completely obsessed with hats and wish people wore them more or didn’t give weird looks when I where one. I especially love wearing them in the summer time!

Wear a hat and have some fun in the sun (:

Valentines Day

As you already know, Valentines Day is around the corner which also means Walking Dead comes back on, yay!

Anyways, this year I went with a red splattered dress from Anthropologie and red flats. The dress is fun and has a lot of movement and will fit any shape. Along with the dress I went with minimal jewelry and slightly curled hair. Even if you don’t have a special someone, dress up and have fun with your family and friends!

Happy Valentines Day and may it be filled with love (:  Also, Happy Galentines Day!
